Hi, I’m Katie and I’m so happy you found your way to my blog! I am a wife and mother of two physically located in Kansas City, MO. My family’s finances took a COVID-related nose dive, as many did. Instead of crawling under a rock of despair, which would be so easy to do some days, I am challenging myself to squeeze a life worth living out of every nickel spent. I want to prove the theory that happiness comes from experiences and not things, and I invite you to follow along on the journey.

What will you find on this blog?
Like so many things, I find saving money and frugality to be part of a much larger inter-connected web. For example, activities that are good for the environment are often times also good on the pocketbook. Decreasing food waste, ditching disposable anything, carpooling, and buying in bulk are just a few examples of this. Other times making a frugal choice is definitely counter-culture. Refusing to purchase new items instead of used goes against our “throw away culture”. And sometimes it’s necessary to say no to things that others would like you to do in favor of having the resources to the things that you wish to do.
All of this is to say that the topics to be covered here are wide open. That said, some things to be included will most definitely be:
Meal planning & recipes
Inexpensive outings
Travel experiences & advice
I hope you enjoy taking this journey with me!
